New! “Cultivate”—A Facilitated Book Club Discussion (Open to all registrants)

ACMA’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Committee announces “Cultivate,”a book club that will offer facilitated discussions of thought-provoking books on DEI-related topics. The committee hopes that the book selections will cultivate thoughtful perspectives and informative conversations, permitting participants to grow their understanding of various issues and expand their leadership capabilities.

The first selection isHow the Word is Passed: A Reckoning with the History of Slavery Across America,by Clint Smith. Named as a “Top 10 of 2021” selection, Smith’s book is a deeply researched exploration of the legacy of slavery and its imprint on centuries of American history.

How the Word is Passed is written in an episodic fashion, so even if you are unable to finish the book prior to the Annual Meeting, reading just a few chapters still will enable you to meaningfully engage in the book club discussion.
